The Latest Futuristic Toys

When it comes to the latest kids toys it seems that interactivity and animation just might be the wave of the future.

Many of the newest toys have been designed so that they can be used with the world wide web in creative, entertaining and educational ways.  A good example of this are the Zhu Zhu Pets which are motorized toy hamsters that scurry and scamper along on the floor or on specially designed play sets.
They have been described as having artificial intelligence and unique personalities which make them very popular among kids.

The fact that they don't create a mess, and can be shut off at the end of a day makes them popular with parents. There's also the Webkinz which have been popular for many years now.  These toys are stuffed animals that are almost like Beanie Babies.  The difference is that the Webkinz come with special codes so that they can be used in an online Webkinz world to play games and interact with others who have the toys.

Parents love the educational value these particular toys provide and kids love them for entertainment's sake.  Again, they provide kids a sort of pet without the hassles a real life animal might bring.
Ty, the company who makes Beanie Babies, decided to get in the game as well when they brought forth their 2.0 version of the popular beanie animals.  Just like Webkinz, the latest Beanies can be transported into an online world where kids can unleash imaginations and have fun learning.
There are two other doll toys which have been released in 2009 that could give us a glimpse into the future of toys for kids.

The Dora Links doll is from the Dora the Explorer series, and has a USB connection with it.

Girls can link the doll to a home computer and the doll will change as Dora progresses in her online world.  Her hair, make up and other features will become customize, adding a unique virtual component to the toy.
The new Elmo Live Encore doll, while not really an online toy, is very lifelike in the way it moves, sings, and interacts with young children.  It seems that with the way these toys are going, the next step will be fully interactive robotic playmates for kids, which parents won't even have to pay to keep their kids occupied.
