Key Development Milestones For Middle Childhood

Middle childhood refers to kids ranging from 6-8 years old.
There are many huge changes which happened to a child's life during this phase of their growing up. This is the 1st early stage where sign of independent is visually shown in their behavior and character. Children should be able to bath and dress themselves independently, wore their socks and tie their shoes perfectly, feed themselves during meals and many more.
At school, children at their middle childhood perceive friendship as the most valuable gift in their schooling life.

They met new friends in schools and these bonds of friendship tend to grow intensively strong between themselves.
It is crucial for them to be close with the group of friends who have good influence on them such as those with these key attributes, "hardworking, diligent, responsible and honest" because this is an important phase in your kids' life where peer effect influence them the most. Their physical, social and mental skills develop rapidly at this time, thus it is very important for them to gain and build the right and positive mold within themselves so that they can develop their self-confidence in their life, regardless in their peer group, in their school work and assignment, or in their extra-curriculum. During this stage, they will experience the desire of having accepted by their friends and peers, they tend to rely more of their attention in teamwork and close buddy friendships, and have a greater sense of differentiating between the right against the wrong, with proper justification to support their judgments. They greatly looking forward for the respect from their peers as well as their teachers on them for this dignify that they are "growing up" and independent now.

At the same time, their ability to analyze, describe and discussing on any related incidents have much increased in their maturity due to the rapid mental skills development which they have went during this middle childhood life.

On the other hand, they become a better storyteller now by having the ability to describe about their experience and desire, thoughts and feelings more easily as compared when they were at their early childhood years.

It is during this crucial middle childhood stage of your kids where more disciplinary lessons need to be taught and emphasized in. Here are the key aspects of lessons which I believe is highly crucial for parents to be instilling their teens from early age: 1.

Encourage them to respect and help each other all the time.
2. Help your teens to develop the sense of responsibility within themselves since young age.
3. Help your teens to set their individual achievable goals.

Praise and award them when they managed to achieve their goals, and continue to encourage them even when they are down missing what they have been targeted for.
Teach them not to be disappointed but to stand right up again and try again with their best effort. 4.

Teach them the importance of discipline and how discipline can help any individual to be a better person in achieving their goals; encourage them to be discipline for they will gain the necessary respect from others with the right discipline that they have in themselves.
