Baby Shower Gift Idea

If you are a woman over the age of 25, then you have probably been invited to at least one baby shower in your lifetime, and as you probably found, gift ideas are few and far between.
What do you buy for an expectant mother? Do you buy funky and practical bandana bibs, which the baby can use for a few months? Alternatively, do you buy the baby an expensive keepsake that it will treasure for the rest of its life (hopefully)? On the other hand, do you buy a present for the mother, knowing that they have probably brought all their baby accessories already? If you are suffering from this dilemma, then this article is for you.
Here we discuss the ins and outs of buying gifts for a baby shower.

First things first, you need to know the sex of the baby so that you can buy an appropriate present. Of course, this is all well and good if the baby is born, but if not, then what do you do? If the baby's sex is yet unknown, then you will need to stick to neutral presents.
Concerning toys, select educational toys with plenty of sensory stimulus (these tend to be unisex), if you want to buy clothes, then select a non gender-specific colour, such as white or yellow. Alternatively, you can purchase baby accessories, such as dummies, bandana bibs, milk extraction pumps, or bath sets. If you choose to buy clothes, avoid buying newborn sizes. The reason for this is clear, if the parents have not yet stocked-up on these items, you can bet your bottom dollar that at least half of the guests at the shower will have done.

Babies grow very fast and they are likely to be out of their newborn clothes within a month.

Many parents find that their babies never wear a significant minority of their clothing in the first few months.

Rather, opt for ages 3-6 months, this way the baby will be able to grow into the outfit, and the parents will be better prepared for this period - when they are likely to be rushed of their feet and without much time for shopping. Believe us when we say, they will be very grateful when the time finally comes around. Consider bizarre products that other guests will not have thought of. A great new craze amongst parents (and an item mentioned twice already) is bandana bibs.
These are bibs in the shape of bandanas and look like fashion accessories, rather than bibs. This means that babies do not look as if they are wearing a bib, and fashion conscious mums will love this.

Alternatively, you can buy the parents something they will like or need. For instance, a spa pack or a pamper kit would be great for new and stressed out mothers.

Something that offers a little rest and relaxation is ideal.
