Fun Kid Fall Activity Ideas Using Apples
Fall is the season for apples.
Fun kid fall activity ideas include apple arts and crafts, games, and yummy cooking projects.
September 26 is Johnny Appleseed's birthday, so plan a party with apples as the theme.
Make a pretty apple garland with dried apple slices. Slice apples into 1/8" thick across the core.
Soak in lemon juice and salt (1 ½ tablespoon salt per 1 cup of lemon juice) for 20 minutes. The lemon juice and salt preserves the apple slices and keeps them from turning brown.
Pat the slices dry and lay on a baking pan.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and ground cloves, and bake at 150 degrees for about 6 hours or until they look and feel leathery. Have kids gather pretty fall leaves to add to the fall garland. Make a small hole through the center of the apple slices and leaves.
Cut fall ribbon or fabric into 1" x 6" pieces.
You will need lots of apple slices, leaves, and ribbon pieces for a long garland.
To string the garland, thread an apple slice and several leaves onto jute string, and tie a ribbon bow onto the string.
Repeat this pattern until the garland is the desired length.
Tie autumn colored ribbon on each end to secure. Kids can take turns working on this fall craft activity until it is long enough to hang in the classroom or at home.

NMLS CE Review of Kaplan and Proschools
In previous years the states regulated the mortgage industry. In 2011 the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) is in place under the federal government. A requirement to maintain a NMLS license is 8 hours per year of continuing education (CE).
Options for CE are classroom or an online course.
I got an offer for a discount price of $99.95 from "Kaplan Real Estate Education" and decided to do that.
Having done CE courses for insurance and mortgage licensing for the last five years with no problems, it seemed like a good option. The Kaplan NMLS CE course is divided into multiple sections. You view the material for a section and then take a take a 10 question quiz. You must get 100% on the quiz to move to the next section.
If you get 90% or less you do it over until you get 100%. This is very irritating.
Then when you finally get to the end of the eight hour course (more if you spend a lot of time on the quizzes) there is a 25 question final exam. Kaplan gives you two chances to get 75% or better on the exam.
Some of questions are worded in a different way from the material presented. Other questions ask for statistical historical information that has no educational value.
OK, I am making excuses for flunking the exam twice! The first time in five years I have had any problem with a CE exam. When I called to complain the Kaplan supervisor said I should pay again, do another 8 hours of CE class, and then they would let me try their stupid test two more times...

A couple days later a representative called from Proschools to see if I wanted to do their CE course. The rep said they had a satisfaction guarantee.
She also said that students rarely had a problem with the exam, and that they allowed unlimited attempts if needed. Preschools offered a discount that made the cost around $100 and I decided to give it a try. The material seemed to be geared a little more towards useful information rather than arcane historical data. Proschools has a quiz after each section but there was usually only two to four questions.
This made it much easier to get 100% on the quiz. The quiz offered a choice of a practice or "final" mode.
You have to do the "final" quiz, even if you get 100% on the practice mode that has the same questions.
It is best to skip the practice and go straight to the "final" quiz.
You get multiple chances for the final quiz if needed.
Then came the dreaded final exam.
The government requires the course provider to require 70% or better to pass.
(Why does Kaplan require 75%? So more people will flunk and have to repeat their course?) I was short on time and rushed through the exam in about five minutes.
I got 24 of 25 correct for 96%.
See, I R smart!! From my experience this year I would suggest Proschools if you want an online course.
Ask if they are offering any discounts and they will give you the code to use for that, if it is available. Of course the quality of the course is far more important than a small difference in the cost.

Young teens feel quite inadequate.
They have new bodies that are developing at the speed of light.
They are uncertain about their relationships and how to behave with others.
They have developing minds and attitudes that they are not sure of.
They have difficulty adjusting to changes.
All of these things can reck havoc with teenagers and their self-confidence. There are a few things that parents can do to support their teens in this time of turmoil and help to even help them improve their self-esteem.
Here are a few tips that parents could follow. 1.
Provide opportunities for your child to succeed as much as possible. Give them successful experiences.
If your teen finds that (s)he likes certain things, such as the arts or sports, encourage him/her to take art courses or join a soccer or baseball team.
This will usually bring out the best in your teen which should boost self-confidence tremendously.
2.
Don't push your child to keep excelling.
This usually can cause your teenager to become critical of his/her abilities. Instead, give your teen some time to just chill out and do what (s)he really wants to, even if it seems that (s)he is wasting time. Teens need down time where they aren't expected to do much.
3. Help your teens to trust in themselves and to feel safe.
You can achieve this by giving them unconditional love and support, regardless of the circumstances.
Resist giving negative criticism all the time.

Stressed Out? Why Not Try Some Simple Video Gaming?
A Research study by PopCap Games, the biggest study of casual gamers ever, suggests that 88% of all every day gamers "play to relieve stress", and 41% said that it is their biggest reason for playing video games to begin with.
In fact, exploration of games has pointed that playing a simple video game for 30 minutes is a tremendous way to relieve tension.

The most famous aerial unit of the entire First World War was the iconic and legendary Jagdgeschwader Nr I or 'The Flying Circus' as it was known by the allies.
This unit was Imperial Germany's first fighter wing which tore bloody chunks out of the Royal Flying Corp and the Royal Air Corps between 1917 and 1918. Undoubtedly, this unit was and always is associated with its charismatic and legendary ace leader, Manfred Von Richtofen.
From its formation in the summer of 1917, the units brave pilots and their brightly painted aircraft battled for aerial control over the Western Front. The units' ranks included some of Germany's most famous airmen including Hermann Goring, Werner Voss and Lothar Von Richtofen.
By the beginning of 1917, Manfred Von Richtofen had received the Pour le Merite (The Blue Max) which was the highest military decoration in Germany at that time. Assuming command of Jasta 11 in January 1917, Richtofen trained hard and fought hard over the Western Front in early 1917.
It was during his time as commander of Jasta 11 that Richtofen decided to paint his Albatros Scarlet Red.
In the vein of emulating their hero, other members of Jasta 11 began to paint various parts of their aircraft red.
The pilots 'official reason' claims to be to avoid their leader becoming a prized target in a dog-fight.
As Jasta 11's battle record grew and the number of kills grew, other Jastas began to paint their aircraft and decoration of aircraft became common throughout the Luftstreitkräfte.
This pattern of decoration was glorified by the German High Command, and the practice was made much of by the German Propaganda. Richtofen was subsequently identified as 'Der Rote Kampfflieger' or 'The Red Battle Flyer'.
Combined with his determination and zeal, Richtofen led his and other units to unwavering success during the 'Bloody April' campaign of spring 1917.
In April alone, Richtofen shot down over 20 aircraft.

Always date in small groups of at least four people.

That is good thing for parents who want to know what their children are doing. Take your cell with you on your dates.
